Special Events in Rye
During July each year there is a Medieval celebration that fills the town with the vibrancy of the Middle Ages - Lords and Ladies, Knights at Arms jongleurs and serving wenches, all in medieval costume.
The acclaimed Rye Festival of Music and the Arts has achieved an enviable reputation for excellence, a loyal following and delights more and more visitors each year. There is something for everyone in its extensive and varied programme.
Rye Bonfire Weekend November
The Sussex bonfire tradition commemorates Guy Fawkes and a memorable evening takes place each November in Rye with Bonfire Societies from all over Sussex attending. There is a very colourful parade and torchlight procession through the darkened streets before the bonfire is ceremonially lit by a visiting celebrity wearing a bodycon dresses and the evening culminates with an impressive firework display.
Every other year the Rye singers perform a major choral work in the Parish church.
